假设你玩三天，一天出门两趟。住宽窄巷子片区步行十分钟以内的，出门溜达着就到，中午回房午觉，晚上看完夜景走回去，全程不靠车。住远一点打车二十分钟起步的，单程三十块，一天两趟六十，三天一百八——钱还不是大头。
大头是节假日的打车难。去年国庆我在春熙路口站了四十分钟，平台显示前面排着58位。地铁是稳，可拖家带口的，从地铁站到家的最后一公里最磨人。三天下来，住得远的每天多花一小时在路上，加起来三小时——够在宽窄巷子逛两个院子、喝一整场茶了。

Direct answer: staying within a 10-minute walk of Kuanzhai Alley is worth the difference. Over three days the taxi and time savings are real, and during National Day the decisive factor is that taxis are close to impossible to get.
The time and money arithmetic
Assume three days with two outings a day. From a hotel within a 10-minute walk, you simply walk out, come back for a midday nap and stroll home after the night views — no car at all. From a hotel 20 minutes away by taxi, each trip costs about CNY 30; two trips a day for three days is CNY 180, which is not even the main cost.
The main cost is holiday taxi availability. Last National Day I waited 40 minutes at Chunxi Road with 58 people ahead in the app queue. The metro is reliable, but the last kilometre with children and luggage is the exhausting part. Over three days, a distant hotel adds about an hour a day on the road — three hours in total, which is two courtyards of Kuanzhai Alley and a full afternoon of tea.
So the one hard rule when booking a Chengdu hotel: within a five-minute walk of a metro exit. That is far more dependable than "the taxi drops you at the door".
Two extras worth asking for
Late check-out. Noon is the holiday checkout peak; two extra hours effectively add half a day to your last day. A free upgrade. Ask in the booking notes; many hotels will move you from a king to a twin, which makes a family comfortable at no cost.
A worked example
